MiniProject Concepts

So these are some costume concepts for this little project I've been playing with, which you can read more about here: http://justcallmeinsane.com/zizijourney.html

These designs are for a character piloting her ship via the sounds and notes played on her violin. Using the left arm (if looking directly at the picture, it would be your right) to hold the violin, I want the shoulder and upper arm area to be left bare so as not to interfere with this.

I realized that before I flesh out concepts for the interior of the ship being driven, it would be important to figure out what kind of person is running the ship. The first design is reminiscent of Star Trek and the general retro-scifi getup. It's very simple, and would call for a polished, clean looking ship. The second was inspired by a 'space nomad'. I still need to work on the design and add more scifi elements, but I am favoring this more, as the ship can be a bit more 'relaxed', as in looking more rugged and used as if it's seen may lightyears. The third was inspired by a more battle-esque space traveler. For this I thought of Farscape, Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones. I am probably going to take out the knee pads and shoulder pad.


I will be adding a fourth design later. :)

Another update! Filled in the background some more, then moved on to the character shading. Taking a break from that crazy water :)

Worked on some more portraits last night. I tried my hand at some anthro faces, too, to start working in some basic creature design.

Portrait

Fixed this up again! I think I am going to leave it where it's at now. I mainly wanted to practice on skin / face painting, and I'm happy with the outcome. :) It was a learning project, and with some more practice I think these kind of projects will be much easier. There are still some issues (lips, eyes) but, for now, I am satisfied with the progress.

Just warm up sketches

Just some warm up doodles before work. :) I am trying out a different approach to my sketches. Using the black instead of the blue lines makes me feel like I'm drawing with pen, and giving me more of a motive to draw lighter and refuse to use an eraser, though for this I did erase a little.

Made some changes to the face, continued to fine tune them as well and fixed the hair shape a bit more. Just spent about an hour or so on it today.

Image Reference used for the toad is from the book Frogs: inside their remarkable world by Ellin Beltz. Really neat book with lots of fun froggy and toad pictures.

Love Harley Quinn, so I did some sketches and expressions of her. :) I am not sure if this is the first time drawing her or not...but I rarely do. I even tried to draw an angry Ivy in there. :D

Here are all the symbols! The last one on the bottom is blah, and I'm most likely going to work on that some more later, but I LOOOVE LOVE my tech-y ones and the steampunk design. And that gothic one came out way better than I thought it would :)

Updated Gender Symbols

The final of the sketches I've come up with. I want to try more with the male symbol later, but I'm very happy with the results. :)

The green dots symbolize which are my favourites.

Gender Symbol Concept: Female

Just some sketches for some gender logo designs. These are for the female gender symbol. I will be doing the male ones shortly. :)

I definitely want to add some more for the female and see how far I can push this!
